We are involved in the catching of live reef fish, targeting a species of Wrasse called Blue Throat Wrasse ( or Parrot Fish ), off the coastline of Victoria.

Process

bullet We go and catch the fish.
bullet The fish are delivered to the wholesaler live from the holding tank on the vessel, then placed into the wholesalers live tanks on his vehicle.
bullet He then takes them and distributes them to asian retaurants which have holding tanks displaying the live fish.
bullet The consumer then selects the fish from the tank whereby it is then taken away, killed, cleaned and cooked ready to be eaten.

bullet Weight: Fish vary between 1 to 2 kg.
bullet Size: Fish vary between 30 to 45 cm.
bullet Male: Orange, yellow and blue coloring with a rounded head.
bullet Female: Brownish coloring throughout with a more pointed head.
bullet Eating quality: Good, provided they are eaten fresh.
bullet Delivery: Live and in exellent quality.

At present we sell to wholesalers and not restaurants in general, but we are considering selling to restaurants around Melbourne providing we get enough customers for a delivery run.

Fishing Trips

Although this is not a fishing service to the general public, the public is occasionally invited for Free fishing trips in our commercial operation.

Come along into Bass Strait and help catch the Wrasse with rods and reels. Limit 2 persons per trip and subject to availability and suitability. Duration up to 12 hours. If you are interested in coming along for a free ride ( we keep the fish ), e-mail boatcharters@profishermen.com
